Dataworks has recently been appointed as system integrators for the implementation of a shop floor information system in Florida for a sister company of one of our multinational customers in the medical device sector.

The project will include phases in 2004 and 2005. It will involve the deployment of Dataworks Resources/ Downloads on site in Florida for key tasks in the project, with the remainder of the work being carried out remotely. This is a major development for Dataworks as we continue to develop opportunities globally within our existing customer base. "We are delighted to have secured this contract" says Liam Curham, Technical Director of Dataworks, who adds "...this again shows our clients' trust in our ability to provide the necessary expertise and service that will result in another successful shop floor implementation within the group"

Dataworks will be hitting the road in November and heads to Limerick where we will be presenting a technical talk in association with the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society. The event will take place at 8 pm on the 23rd of November at the South Court Hotel in Limerick. Shop Floor & IT - Closing the loop will be the theme of this debate/ presentation and will consist of a one our talk/ case study followed by a question and answer session and tea/ coffee & finger food.

In the past 10 years, the different roles between IT and engineering were very clear. While technology has moved on a great deal over recent years to bridge that gap between automation and IT; the cultural differences between IT, controls and engineering are preventing in a lot of cases the adoption of a fruitful collaborative approach to systems integration.

Professionals from Engineering, Controls, Quality and IT will be invited to share their experiences on the subject. The event will provide with a unique networking opportunity between professionals of the automation industry in IT, Engineering and process control. The event is free of charge. Please feel free to invite your colleagues along. More info about the event can be found on the ISA website by clicking here .
