Further reinforcing our position as a leading software developer in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices sector, Dataworks has recently started the analysis of a bespoke system to be developed for a leading Global Pharmaceutical Manufacturing plant based in the South East.

The system, which will provide seamless integration between the Packaging control systems and the company's existing MES (Manufacturing Execution System), aims at eliminating potential operator error in entering Batch parameters and data on the Packaging line, and to provide more efficient and timely capture of production data at Packaging.

February has seen the kick off of Ireland's first ICONICS implementation in the Medical Devices industry. The system will provide visualisation of a state-of-the art integrated line by Swiss machine builder Mikron. Key metrics and performance data will be displayed on large monitors and made available on the company's intranet through ICONICS WebHMI.

"ICONICS growth in the global HMI/SCADA market place reached double digits for the 5th consecutive year during 2005, however for 2006 market research demonstrates that there is to be significant levels of interest for more manufacturing intelligence and lean manufacturing solutions, providing the ability to turn data into information, and help minimise down time and wastage. The Dataworks ICONICS partnership is very strategic for us to deliver this initiative within the Irish market place, both companies are very excited about the levels of interest we have received thus far and we trust that we can continue to work together to exceed the needs of our customers within Ireland" - Clive Walton, Managing director of ICONICS UK Ltd.

Phase three of a MES (Manufacturing Execution System) implementation for a Florida-based company will be taking place over the next few months with one of Dataworks' staff taking residency in this sunny part of the world for six months to assist in the roll-out.

Statistical Process Control (SPC) software WinSPC - another product Dataworks distributes and integrates in Ireland - has been attracting quite a bit of attention within the Irish manufacturing community recently. Not surprisingly given the flexibility of the package which can be used stand-alone or as a networked, integrated, in-line SPC system with fully automated data collection that is extremely easy to setup, use and maintain. In addition to the distribution and integration of WinSPC, Dataworks has two of its engineers trained to provide local first line support.

Congratulations to our colleague Dermot O'Sullivan who was recently awarded the QAD Software Design Award for his 4th year college project. Dermot received 85% for his project, the highest mark in his year. Dermot has been working with us since his return from New York where he spent 3 months after finishing his Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Commercial Software Development at the Waterford Institute of Technology.
