 Dataworks
is carrying out an upgrade of the in-house 'Orthopaedic
Audit System' used by the South Eastern Area of the Health
Service Executive (HSE).
This upgrade will provide essential IT improvements to enable clinicians
to fulfil their obligations to undertake clinical audit
in the Orthopaedic specialty until such time as National patient
systems are
rolled-out across the HSE.
The
development will improve facilities for recording and analysis
of personal, administrative and clinical data in
respect of patient discharges from the orthopaedic departments in
Waterford Regional Hospital and Kilcreene Orthopaedic Hospital.
It will enable clinicians to examine workloads and analyse
outcomes in terms of morbidity and mortality. It will promote
the training of junior staff and facilitate discussion between peers
about practice to identify ways of improving the effectiveness
and efficiency of patient care.
