High Volume Manufacturing Plant Adopts Iconics Product Suite for Data Collection and Process Diagnostics

Dataworks has just completed a pilot project for a major high volume manufacturing company in the South East which uses the Iconics Product Suite to connect to the automated assembly lines for data collection and reporting. The pilot used a Kepware OPC server acting as a data bridge between the Iconics Alarming, Logging and Visual Display applications and the process’s PLC. A number of demonstration applications using the Iconics tool kit were developed in order to prove the principle of the architecture and it is now planned that the entire plant will now be retrofitted to allow a plant wide data collection and reporting system to be developed.

WinSPC offers the life sciences industry the quality software and services to quickly:

- Improve product and process quality
- Lower the cost-of-quality
- Meet FDA regulatory requirements and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance
- Prevent product defects and recalls

Dataworks recently completed the development of a .NET Handheld interface into the backend of an existing MES solution. The application was developed in VB.Net and was deployed on an Intermec CN30 handheld device running Windows Mobile 5.0. The handheld application communicates through a Web service which provided the main business logic and interaction with the database. The application allows the identification and tracking of lots by scanning/typing the lot identifiers into the system. The device operates wirelessly (using wireless LAN) with the web service and provides a way for operators/supervisors to enquire about lots running through the MES system. It also provides the ability for users to remove & sign for the removal of holds. Going forward the application can be extended greatly to resolve more issues on the factory floor while on the move.
