Liam Curham also attended the Manufacturing Automation Technology 2008 Exhibition which was recently held in the Radisson SAS Hotel in Cork. Here he obtained valuable new contacts in companies such as Pepsi and met with machine builders and other automation companies. The exhibition is centred around the concept of "Maintaining manufacturing competitiveness through Manufacturing Intelligence".

Manufacturing companies based in Ireland must invest in continuous improvement of their manufacturing systems to maintain competitiveness on international markets in the face of rising employment costs in Ireland. As well as initiatives such as implementation of lean manufacturing, companies must also be continually looking for ways in which they can use technology to reduce costs and increase quality.
